Can't you take a look at what boards are on YOUR Uni bus and
tell the loading factor?
Yes, but it wouldn't help as I didn't do this mod in my machine.
This happened about 18 years ago. I was repairing a scientific instruemtn
that was controlled, IIRC, by a PDP11/34 with a pair of RL01s. I can't
rememebrall the boards in there, as well as the 11/34 CPU set there ws
clearly memory, a DL11-W, an RL11 and the custom interface boards to the
rest of the instrument. There was also an EAE board. I can't remember
what else.
Anyway, amongst other things I found a defective 8881 bus driver. I tried
a 7401 becuase I could find that. The machine sprang to life. I told the
ownses that I had fitted a low-specification IC and that I would try to
get the correct one and come back to fit it. And that they were to call
me if it failed. It was still working several yeas later, there were no
problems at all.
