Note that the drive seems to operate without issue other than the
drive light. Boots, etc.
In addition to what Fred mentioned, there are some drives that employ
the "in Use" line to allow the host to illuminate the drive. I've got a
couple of YE Data drives that behave in this manner. On 8" drives, this
corresponds to "Head Load". It's pin 4 on the interface and is
active-low. You could probably tie it to the appropriate "drive select"
pin.
