Correct me if I'm wrong, but I seem to recall
there being people on
this list who do use such systems at home.
8600 series Vaxen used ECL and were good substitutes for a central
heating system,
requiring some serious environmental control.
I'm not sure of the power requirements, but they were quite high, even
for the era, a Vax 6000 is a PC in comparison.
