Stoddard solvent works just fine for this application.
He then lubes it with lithium grease, which is also the right thing to do.
I don't see anywhere he says he removed the WD-40 and replaced it with lithium
grease.
I see where another suggested lithium grease but not that he did. Maybe
I'm getting old.
