All IBM PC an XT boards had the first row of RAM soldered in.
The other three rows were sockets.

misread that your board
was unpopulated.
OP has a RAM daughter-board that is unsocketed, and recalls his
motherboard as being all soldered. (Therefore, NOT IBM XT)
