It's not _that_ hard to replace. The trick, of course, is to cut the
male
connector apart while it's still soldered to the PCB, and desolder it a
bit at a time.

No, actually you want to be fully allert so you don't lift any traces on
the PCB.
It's not _that_ bad a job. I've had to do it a number of times, and I
don't worry about it any more.
