I will confess that when I saw the TMZ photo of Steve Jobs (looked
like it was taken in Woodside) on the day of his resignation, the
preface to T.S. Eliot's "The Waste Land" came to mind:
""Nam Sibyllam quidem Cumis ego ipse oculis meis vidi in ampulla
pendere..."
For with my own eyes I saw the Sibyl hanging in a jar at Cumae, and
when the boys said to her, 'Sibyl, what do you want?' she replied, "I
want to die." (Eliot quoting from Petronius' "Satyricon")
Apple's Sybil, wasting away to a skeleton; no expense spared in
keeping him alive to keep up the company stock value...
How horrible. I wonder if stories will be told about his final days.
