I believe the release before 5.0 was 4.4 but I'm not sure. I've got
tapes for 4.0, 4.1, 4.2 and 4.3.
I know 4.7 was out before 5.0, but I don't know if there was
anything between them; I went from 4.5 to 5.0 and only encountered
4.7 on a used "MicroVAX 8000" (a VAXstation 8000 without the
graphics stuff) that I acquired from E&S.

I believe
it was either V5.4 or 5.6, some one can confirm. The hobbiest
version of 7.2 does.
