The PDP-8 does closer to a million calculations
per second.
While Operate and Jump instructions require 1 memory cycle,
most intructions require two memory cycles.Indirect is a
extra cycle. Asuming about a 1.5 us memory cycle and two cycle
intructions that is 3.0 us per instruction or 333,000 instructions
per second. Still quite fast.
