I know a lot of you expressed concerns about JPEGs,
but I haven't
been able to get anywhere near the compression using other methods,
for greyscale images.
Given the 600dpi archival copy, stored uncompressed (or losslessly
compressed), I have no issues whatever with distributing low-res
jpegged versions for most uses.
