I've been up to my elbows in real RM03s and CDC 9762s (what they are
based on). They are indeed close, but in my experience, not identical.
I worked a job in 1988 where the boss had me refurbing pallets of DEC
equipment. One task was to attempt to remove the DEC mods from the RM03
to allow us to connect it to a Unibus SMD controller. Even with his
expertise, we were not able to figure out all the things that DEC changed.
Perhaps with proper schematics it would have been trivial, but all we had
at the time was a real 9762 we could pull parts from, and a row of RM03s
to experiment with. ISTR there were some minor differences in the cards
in the internal card cage (not the SMD<->MASSBUS adapter below; that was
100% DEC).

Would this mean that I can use the smd<->massbus unit for example with a
a Fujitsu M2321/M2322? In that case, some alternative use for the controller
comes in mind, in case the RM03 doesn't work.
Thanks,
Ed
