NIXIE clock built from neon ring counters, although there are numerous transistors
involved for driving the nixies.
I don't expect it's really practical in terms of reliability though.
If I ever get around to building a NIXIE clock, I
was going to try
putting a motion detector in it to turn the display on/off for the
sake of longevity of the displays.
An alarm would be nice too. Ben.
PS: On the web some where, they have all transistor Nixie clock.
