Al: what hardware have you used to scan old books?
Conventional sheet-feed scanners. My current workhorse is the Panasonic KV-S3065W.
The bindings are cut off before scanning, and the paper is recycled.
"Rare" as opposed to "Old" books are scanned with an Opticbook 3600,
and are
retained. I've done very few of the former, and literally thousands of the later.
The point of all of this, coming up on it's tenth anniversary, was to rid myself
of the storage costs I have incurred due to my collecting addiction while not being
able to bring myself to just throwing it all out.
