People who have had a bad experience with crappy sockets, such as TRS80
and Apple, tend to have a hard time trusting sockets after that.
My cousin (David Ungar) introduced me to Augat turned-pin sockets. I
bought a bare generic 5160 motherboard and populated it entirely with
Augat sockets. Finally learned how to solder. Later, I learned that
there wasn't much point in socketing the resistor packs, . . .
