Bravo! I like LA180s a lot. I used one for a long time. I miss the
"WEEE! WEEE! WEEE!" unidirectional printing...such a comforting sound. (as
long as it's coming from the next room! ;))
After powering it up, no magic smore, but some humming
from the fan.
The selftest went ok, but the ribben needs replacement, the characters
were faint.
Now, I want to hook it up, so I opened the backpanel to locate the
serial line, only to find out is is not having the converter board
which is an LAXX-NY for EIA signals according to the user guide.
So, is there someone having this board and is willing to sell it?
I don't have any of those serial interface boards. Bus interface boards,
though...I think several of those will drive the LA180, but the one I used
with the LA180 on a Unibus machine was the LS11. It's a good setup. I have
a few spares; if you want to try driving it that way, send me your address.
