I have an old Popular Electronics with instructions on making a one bit
vacuum tube memory using a single tube, connected to the parallel port. Of
limited utility of course, but interesting.

I wonder how much computing equipment you could make from home-made
triodes?
Even a simple (say 4-bit) adder would be pretty impressive.
