Agreed, my DC is my favorite too. It's funny, but to bring this OT I think the
DC is the favorite console of a lot of old hardware hackers because it shares
many of the same things that we like old hardware for:
- It had a lot of good, unique hardware ideas introduced that were either too
weird or misunderstood to be copied to other console hardware (LCD screens and
controls on the memory cards, proprietary GDROM format, built-in web browser, etc.)
- Tinker-friendlu: Without cracking open the unit you could develop software
for it and even run NetBSD on it
I'm probably missing some comparisons because my old hardware knowledge ends at
1974, but you catch my drift.
