Just to confirm : There are mains swithces, yes?
There is no
mains-frequency trandormer in them, rather the mains is recrtified,
smoothed, and then chopped/
I've never had one apart. If there's a mains transformer inside then it
must be tiny, because the power supplies are lighter than any linear
power supply I have. I suppose it's possible that the transformer is
quite small - what's the current draw on the 9V AC line anyway
