I have both boxes attached to systems, I can try to test this.
I have a few test patterns that were written for the 1350 that do not
display correctly on the 1351 however (odd!). So am I sure that
there is a real difference in how they react when you plot past
the limits, whatever they are.

I looked in my HP1350 manual, and it's inconsistant. At one point it
claims the resolution is 1022*1023, at another place it gives the range
of parameters to the plot command as 0-1022 and 0-1023. Personally, I
believe the latter, there are good hardware reasons why that's the case.
