Just do a resistance test between a known ground and one connector then the
other of the power socket. Zero ohms tels you that you have the (-)
connector.
Known grounds usually include the nuts of DB type connectors.

Thanks for the voltage specs but what about polarity? ;)
It should only take a second to check for ground, you probably won't even
have to open the case.
