At least that's right for my ISA sample. However,
my notes on the chip
also tell me that it doesn't support FM, in spite of what the chip docs
say. It could be a mistake on my part, but I'm pretty certain I was
careful.
I couldn't get it (UM8390) to work in FM mode either. I tried things like
Anadisk and 22Disk, and also home-written software (which worked find in
MFM mode). In general, the last byte of a sector would be randomly
corrupted (and maybe other bytes wrong too) -- this was when reading a
known sector off a single-density flopyy.
