DOSBOX doesn't boot in the sense that DOS does. The DOSBOX application
starts on its own (from internal resources, not "real" .SYS files), then it
can run a BAT file to mount a drive and change to it and do the post-boot
things you might want to do in terms of setting environment variables (because
lots of DOS games use environment to find out what the soundcard params
are). DOSBOX is a DOS application environment *not* a DOS emulator
(somewhat like Wine vs VMware), so if that's what you really need, you are
correct in thinking DOSEMU will work better for you.
