Newslog International (aka Lab1) developed technology
for recording up
to 30-50K of data on a printed piece of cardstock approximately 6" x 4".
I heard of a system a year or two ago for sending data via fax machines.
There was software to send special markings via a fax modem, and software
for the other end to process the received fax image. It would work even
if you received on a plain fax machine, made a generation or two of photo
copies, and then scanned it.
