The system software (OS, compilers, etc.) certainly wasn't. Hopefully
the software licenses are transferable with the hardware, but having
never looked at Cray licenses, I have no idea.
There even was third-party off-the-shelf application software for these
things. For instance, plastic mold flow simulation, which is the main
thing Apple's Cray was used for (but not what it was originally
purchased for).
