No JPEG. It does ITU-T T.6 "group 4" fax compression. This is a
lossless bilevel compression not suited to photographs or other
continuous-tone images.
AMD transferred this part to Oak.
The only reason I know about it is that it's used in my Ricoh IS520
scanner.
