On the back of that,
are CRTs best shipped with the screen facing down, or
forwards? Presumably it's also wise to unplug the neck board from the CRT
and secure it. What do people do about the HV transformer? They're normally
bulky/heavy and can lack support other than the solder connections on the PCB.
I?ve shipped tons of stuff through The UPS Store. They always do a great job packing.

Ones with plastic cases should be removed if possible from the case and
shipped in the hard foam. if that isn't possible, internal bracing is
all you can try.
I don't like the UPS Store they are spotty. I've had more fail at
shipping large items than succeed when shipping home. I use them for
shipping but not for packing. BTW if you can pack your item while
traveling, direct to the UPS centers is cheaper than the stores.
Also as a side note, the original question was from a shipper who sounds
like a real good guy. I had a friend buy a glass sided mechanical
Burroughs calculator a few years ago for $50 and paid $200 (yes, $150
extra) to get it packed right. Arrived in a single side box smashed.
Never dealt with any dealers again via mail. I can't blame him, but his
is one of the nightmare scenarios. Thankfully everyone here I would not
hesitate to buy from as all here I would rely on being competent and
attentive to getting items to buyers intact.
