We received the same email.
Unfortunately, this doesn't go far towards explaining a whole lot.
All I can garner from this is that the writer has an 8" drive that
writes MFM 256-byte sectors. The "3740 compatible" is probably a red
herring, as most soft-sectored SSDD/SSSD diskettes had a legend to
this effect.
Beyond that, we don't know what operating system software is being
used. If it's proprietary, the job of unraveling it can take a fair
amount of effort (just ask me about 6580 Displaywriter or DECMate WPS
I diskettes!).
