This may be a trivial point, but I love Flight Simulator too.
Microsoft didn't write it. Sublogic did and was aquired by Microsoft. I
used to play FS II on my Atari 8-bit years ago. I've got to credit MS for
improving it and not ruining it, but it is interesting that in the
Sublogic days, FS II ran on the C:64, Atari 8-bit, Atari ST, Amiga, IBM
PC, you get the picture.. Now it only runs on one platform.
It is not trivial to note that every single time I see something
impressive from MS, furthur research shows that they were not involved in
it's creation. They bought it complete - like the .ASF format for
instance, or the terminal server portion of thier multiuser operating
system products. That they got from Citrix - under duress I might add.
