surplus. Anyone know how to replace the motor drive
belt without
ending up with lots of bits and pieces strewn about? If there's an
easy way, I don't see it.
I've never done it (not having a Selectric :-() but I am told you did
ahve to dismatle half the machine to remove the mainsahft far enough to
get the new belt in. I beleive it was comon practice for IBM CEs to put 2
belts round the shaft and then tape one ot the side plate out of the way.
That way, next time it failed they could untape the 'spare' and hook it
onto the motor pulley. Of course the enxt time they had to do the whole job.
