when my Multisync II (NEC) was new, you'd here 1
click. Over the years it would say click 3 times.
Occasionally it would click loads of times, like a
scaled down anti-aircraft weapon.

IIRC, when scan rates were changed on the Sony,
there was a bunch of
"clickety-click" of relays that you didn't hear with
the NECs. My
12" Mitsubishi Diamond Scan is completely silent
when changing scan
rates.
