...and sometimes I think it can mean missed design goals. Case in point,
the National NSC800 CPU:
NSC800-1 = 1 MHz
NSC800-2 = 2 MHz
NSC800-3 = 2.5 MHz
NSC800-35 = 3.5 MHz
NSC800-4 = 4 MHz
You've got to wonder about that -3 part.
