It was a great way to pump up interest in a sale. It's another
example of something eBay could turn to their advantage.
On the bid history screen, if I follow the bidder's screen name, I am allowed
to see the email address associated with the screen name, but I have to
sign-in myself during the process. I've been researching buyers and sending
out email notices to people who have bid before on similar items. From
responses I have gotten, they seem to appreciate it, and it definitely
increases page views.
