Al or Cu coils, but most of the weight comes from the laminated-steel
core...
ISTR we paid $500 for new one in 1988 - 30KVA, IIRC. I wouldn't want
to pay more than $100 for a used one today. Hopefully, I won't ever
have to worry about them.
Huh. I've never eyeballed the price sticker on one of 'em before. Maybe
I'll get a few quotes on a step down and an isolation xfrmr, too. Not sure
I'd pop for an isolation xfrmr with out meggering it good beforehand.
