Hi David, I got that impression when David Brooks said the P112 was his
design and asked for royalties on new boards.
Since there is no "free/open source" type license for the PCB design and he
asserted his rights to it I can't see how a "free/open source" board could
be made without violating the rules. The documentation for the P112
hardware seems clearly marked for "D-X Designs Pty Ltd"
It is unfortunate but reality. Not everyone will release the rights to
their designs, nor are they obligated too, so the hardware design can't be
reused in a free/open source project.
I would love to be wrong on this of course but it seems like an "open and
shut case" to me. Thanks and have a nice day!
The way my involvement with the P112 started was that I asked David
Brookes if I could make more. He said, "yes" and handed over the design
files. I'm looking around for the emails now.
