There are some application-specific wierdnesses too.
For example,
tacquets on US-made piston valvesets for musical instruments are 3-
48. Fortunately, I do have a set of taps and a die for that
thread.
Actually, my thread tables claim that 3-48 UNC is a normal thread (well,
as 'normal' as any of the odd-numbered ones).
