With wait states and cache turned off (INTERNAL cache,
not L2, see the
ICD.COM util I mentioned earlier) my 486 is slower than my 5150. So you
probably missed the internal cache step.
Shouldn't be slower - it's clocked faster and it's a 32 bit bus instead of
8 ...
The BIOS on this machine has an option for disabling both the L2 and internal
caches, but I'm guessing that the one for internal doesn't work - It has
no discernable effect and I would have expected much more than that - I'll
check ou your ICD program.
