Probably depends on where you live. They still show up here in the west
coast of the US. Not like they used to though. School districts used to
send pallets of them to recycling years ago. Some recyclers saved them
some didn't. Some had special 'collections' of stuff they thought were
old and worth keeping.
I wouldn't be at all surprised if this lot was one of those recyclers
'old computers' piles. They were not worth recycling. Very little metal
or gold in a Apple II. They are basically landfill material if you
couldn't sell it to someone. Probably costs more to dispose of than they
are worth in scrap. Easier to shove in a corner in case it became worth
something one day.
