I personally amended my curses to "gods
damnit" (etc.) so the
christians don't pounce on me and tell me I do secretly believe every
time I lose my temper. Gods plural seems to instantly set one aside
from almost every major religious group except the Hindu.
"gods dammit" was used in the updated "Battlestar Galactica" series.
