Hello everyone, I'm bringing back to life a

I used to fix Teletypes for Western Union, years ago...
When I switch on, into "local" mode, I get
continuous "nul" typing. The
mechanism is doing the typing dance and its trying to type NUL. Where to
start? I've got the prints and am going to check out the keyboard area for
now, perhaps it has a clue.
Aha! That, BTW, is called 'Running Open.' Those machines depend on a
constant current of about 30ma or so through the selector magnet (the
widget on the side that sets up the characters to be printed).
If said circuit is open, you'll get exactly this continuous typing effect.
I'm sorry my trip isn't for another couple of weeks... I would happily
help you with that beastie, especially after all the help you've been on
the VAX.
