Possibly Ciarcia's multiprocessor 8751 system for Mandelbrot set
computations, in the October/November/December 1988 Byte magazines. It
was awesomely slow.
Is that online anywhere? I wouldn't mind a read. A quick google showed a
couple of Byte archives that were no longer functional, and one working
one which only went as recent as 1986.
