They still exist.  I believe that even some inexpensive Chinese TOP
EPROM programmers have this mode.  My vintage Superpro programmer has
this function.  However, most such devices are limited to recognizing
simple combinatorial logic--my Superpro can't, for example, recognize a
74LS281.
