A PDP-11/05 in need of some help arrived on my doorstep yesterday.
Amongst its other problems (*) the power/panel lock microswitch has been
broken beyond all repair and it's kind of an oddball thing -- anyone
I don't ahve one, but isn;t that the thing with 2 microswitches one
side, one the other, operated by a 'cam' on the end of the lock barrel?
The 'two side' turnsof the machine when it's operared. both sets
unoperated is the nroaml running psotion, operating ths isngl;e
microswitch disables the panel.
Now for the warning. The 2 switches on te power-odfon the power-off side
do not break the 2 sides of the mains goign to the PSU. One of the
switches opens the live mains wire ot the pSU,. The other is wired to the
power cotnroller connector (the little 3 pin thing on the back) so the
panep key can operate siad power cotnroller.
My point being that be very careful to g tther wires on the right tags,
ro you may have mains where you do not expect it!
