The Mylar emergency blankets you find everywhere work OK too.
Not that I advocate destroying one keyboard to fix another but, the Sun
Type 4 keyboards use the same Keytroinc pads and so far I have yet to
find one where the pads have gone bad. They are several years newer than
stuff like the TRS80 Model II and Lisa so, they may just not have gone
bad yet. Still, it works better than making your own and takes many of
hours less work. It's a easy cheap quick fix if even it only delays the
pain of making your own another ten years.
The Burroughs B25/6 keyboards are worse. They use a hybrid Keytroinc
deal. They took the same pads, made then half the thickness, and then
glued them to the top of the rubber domes on a typical membrane style
keyboard.
