As a general rule I don't do anything requiring serial access to older
computers on Windows 9x unless it's a native Windows32 application.
Otherwise, the serial port emulation really sucks and you invariably have
problems. I either work under real DOS, or I use a native app (like a
version of Procomm for Win32).
