Groan...to have complete system needs one rack... that pretty large
by my space standards. But my eyes lits up on that 70 lights...
whew!
Well no, while you can have a complete system in one rack, most 11/70 systems
are several racks. I was pointing out that the processor *alone* is half a
rack.
Which series is most compact (sized for desktop or
tower style) pdp
or vax and only needs one wall power cord to run whole thing
(including storage built in).
Both the pdp11 and vax families have very large and very small members. A
MicroVAX 2000, for example, is about the size of a lunchbox. Look for a BA23
or BA123 chassis...they're small deskside (though the BA23 can be tabletop or
rack-mounted easily) cabinets that can hold either a qbus pdp11 or a qbus
MicroVAX/VAXstation. pdp11 systems to look for would be pdp11/23, /53, /73,
or /83, while the VAXstation systems in those chassis could be anything from a
MicroVAX-II to a VAX4000/200.
If you need more specific info, mail the list or me personally...we can help
you out. Most of us here are running systems like those nowadays, I'd guess.
