Worth mentioning that there used to be a *lot* of
clone floppy drives
around. My orignal PC has one orignal FH drive and one clone; externally
they look *exactly* the same as the geniune IBM units, but lack the
small embossed IBM logo in the plastic.
AFAIK the original 'IBM' drives were actually Tandon units -- they're
mechanically and electrically identical (PCB layout, etc). I've used
Tandon parts to fix IBM drives. The only difference is that the IBM ones
have the IBM logo on the faceplate.
