Yes, that's why I do my "late 1980s" thing; it at least should catch
interesting items because they do look old even to the untrained eye. The
only downside is that boring PC from the 1990s also looks ancient to a lot
of people...
(maybe "late 1980s or earlier and no beige boxes" would work, although that
would let a few interesting vintage machines slip through the net)
