would certainly pay a few hundred pounds for an A3000 that was either working

It's be better given away. Don't forget that empathy does actually exist, and
should be valued more than money ;)
Espacially, when someone wanted to have something since childhood, and yet even as an
adult, he can't afford it. 'It' being not something luxury .
