Even a simple serial bootstrap can be done if it is an older machine with
hard configures serial. Most programmable serial chips can be made into

They only get expensive when you're trying
to match a particular type.
If you're flexible about types, one can get them fairly cheaply.
Well I am as I am thinking of matching momentary and on/off switches -
lever handle - PCB mount. As I am still waiting for my switches to come
in for a different project I am trying to get around that problem for
bootstrapping.
