The BA8-A System Expander Box came with a single 20-slot OMNIBUS backplane,
but you could add (as a fully supported configuration) a BE8-A OMNIBUS
Expander, which added another 20-slot backplane and M935 bus jumpers, for a
total of 80 slots (six taken up by bus jumpers and cables).
I can't seem to find where this was officially sanctioned, but it does seem
that it was done often enough.
Since the BC08H cable came in 3 and 4 foot lengths, it would seem then
that the maximal Omnibus is two 40 slot 8/E chassis interconnected with
a 4 foot flexprint cable. (Each 8/E chassis with two 20 slot BE8-A backplanes
connected by M935 interconnecting cards.) Presumably with 70 slots
worth of option cards.
